About Us.

We are a group of professionals who have trained for years in the use of bedside ultrasound.  Our knowledge allows us to best serve you and your patients.

Faculty with Experience

Many of us are pioneers in ultrasound at our institutions and belong to professional organizations that promote the use of bedside ultrasound.  Our years of experience have culminated into teaching you our unique skills.

Our Goal

We believe in training medical professionals in procedures and techniques that will allow them to excel as providers.  We seek to improve both communities and individuals through training in the art of medicine by using ultrasound.

Chip Lange
CEO and Founder
Chip Lange (pictured right) started in fire and EMS before becoming a PA.  His passion for point of care ultrasound (POCUS) and education led him to start Practical POCUS to help spread his knowledge and that of his colleagues.  He clinically practices in emergency medicine in rural Missouri and strives to help educate anyone interested in POCUS.  In addition to Practical POCUS, he has a blog and podcast called TOTAL EM which focuses on helping others learn the countless elements of emergency medicine.
Mark Neuman
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Mark Neuman has had a stellar record when it comes to businesses and making them thrive.  He has been a leader in improving sales and operations with a variety of medical companies.  He comes to us with decades of experience and a drive to take our business to a new level and better serve our learners.

Yomi Olusanya - Medical Director

Dr. Yomi Olusanya, like most of our group, has military experience which has helped create a solid foundation in point of care ultrasound as well as in emergency medicine and internal medicine for which he has done for over a decade.

Fritz Fuller

Fritz Fuller practices in rural and remote locations but was one of the first PAs to practice A&E Medicine with the NHS in England in 2004.  His prior military and civilian experiences have made him an excellent clinician and POCUS advocate.

Frank Norman

Frank Norman is the Co-Founder of The Society of Point of Care Ultrasound ​(​SPOCUS​)​ and a graduate of the Ultrasound Leadership Academy (ULA).  He also served in the military and is a true pioneer of ultrasound especially in the realm of PAs.

Robert Kollpainter

Robert Kollpainter is not only a brilliant cardiovascular and thoracic surgery PA who has been using ultrasound for years, but he has come up with clever ways to decrease simulation costs including creating an inexpensive phantom IV model.

Jeremy Amayo

Jeremy Amayo is a pulmonary and critical care PA who not only has become phenomenal at ultrasound but he also hosts Pulmcast with his podcasting partner John Heisler.  Together they form a formidable team in critical care education.

John Heisler

Jon Heisler is also a pulmonary and critical care PA as well as being the second half of Pulmcast, but he has become quite the leader in education both in and out of the classroom.  He has been an advocate for ultrasound in ICU settings.

Laura Blesse-Hampton

Laura Blesse-Hampton is an assistant professor at a PA program and she has fully embraced ultrasound.  In addition to her academic roles, she is also a subject matter expert and exam review participant for the NCCPA.

Susan Raaymakers

Susan Raaymakers started as a sonographer and now is an assistant professor at a PA program.  Many do not know she has been using ultrasound for decades and is an expert at echocardiography both in adults and pediatric patients.

Hana Dubsky

Hana Dubsky has an extensive background in the combination of emergency medicine, bedside ultrasound, and education.  She has received numerous awards over the years because of her excellent abilities to teach students especially her residents.

Kimberly Kuphal

Kimberly Kuphal started her career as a registered nurse (RN) but she is now a PA in Wisconsin where she has been teaching POCUS to PA students and residents alike when she is not working in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

Janelle Bludorn

Janelle Bludorn is a clinical assistant professor at a PA program and has a growing love for ultrasound.  Currently, she is a lead POCUS peer educator and enjoys teaching the benefits of ultrasound to students and her colleagues.

Patrick Bafuma

Patrick Bafuma is energetic and he has a blog called EM in FOCUS which is open access.  His love for POCUS has led him to introduce new course topics in a variety of settings including the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) national conference.

Megan Quinn

Megan Quinn is our first family nurse practitioner (FNP) to joint the group and has a background is rich in trauma surgery, cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, and education.  She now takes her POCUS skills and helps us teach various clinicians.

Patrick Doyle

Patrick Doyle is an emergency medicine PA and like many great educators is not afraid to learn.  He takes on new challenges and constantly demonstrates that he is not only knowledgeable but a fast learner that can simplify challenging ultrasound skills.

Brittany Ellis

Brittany Ellis started her medical career as a sonographer with years of experience before becoming a PA.  She has worked in and enjoys obstetrics and gynecology, emergency medicine, and more recently addiction medicine.

Tyler Christifulli

Tyler Christifulli is our first critical care and flight paramedic, but he is very well known for his talents in education.  He leads the FOAMfrat blog and podcast with growing interest in proficiency in a number of skills including bedside ultrasound.

Aurora Lybeck

Dr. Aurora Lybeck is both an emergency medicine physician and our first EMS fellowship trained physician.  She recognizes the need and practicality of ultrasound both in and outside of the hospital.  We are excited to have her join us in training others.

Marcus Ryan

Marcus Ryan is our first PA that specializes in interventional radiology.  As a result of these experiences he has become proficient in the use of ultrasound guided procedures and enjoys using these skills to teach others in their own application of POCUS.
